Venue Update

Shrewley pool Warwick continues to provide bumper sport even in the lower temperatures. Fishing a foot deep up in the water with pellet is still bagging 100lb nets. Small soft pellet or maggot on a 14 hook is most popular method. Feed little and often and be prepared to wait for the carp to move up. Alternative approach is to fish on the deck with meat and expect to catch carp to 5lb, feed pellet and hemp at 8m for best results. Last match result Warne Wright , T Thomas 108lb P Smith 107lb G Clayton 97lb .Tel 01473 327366 for details.

Creeting lakes Stowmarket Top Lake match weights reached 170lb with fish from 2lb to 7lb. corn, meat or pellet all producing results. The trick in the cooler water is to keep the bait moving every few minutes. Twitch your bait an inch or two to tempt a bite. Bigger baits are required to sort out the larger fish. The Big fish lake is providing consistent sport with baits lodged against the island. Many fish from 11lb to 18lb are in the shallower water, with a number of 20lb fish just off the island shelf to chocolate flavoured baits. Bottom lake carp are still buzzing catches of 20 or 30 fish to 9lb are common. Maggot and soft flavoured pellets fished in the margins working well. Tel 01473 327366

Oxborough Lakes, Kings Lynn The Big Carp lake is maturing and the fish from 10lb to 20lb are finding their way to the bank. Baits fished against the shelf on the island are fooling the carp and strawberry flavours have been best recently. Expect to catch some hard fighting carp and don’t leave your rod unattended, two lost last week! The match lake carp are showing at 5m with pellet fed little and often. Tel 01473 327366

Halesworth lakes Suffolk has something for everyone and has enjoyed superb sport across all three lakes recently. Match weights topped 180lb and baits placed at 6m and in the margins produce big weights, particularly by the reeds. Middle pegs on either bank on the Big Lake are throwing up carp from 10lb to 18lb with brightly coloured baits taking most fish. Lots of smaller carp to pole and maggot at 5m.tel 01473 327366

Yaxley Lake Suffolk has exploded into life and the latest match result produced a net of carp totalling 94lb. This little gem of a venue is one of Suffolk’s best kept secrets and with pleasure weights regularly providing carp from 1lb to 18lb in picturesque surroundings its popularity is set to increase. Feed and fish right next to the reeds with paste, meat or pellet. Tel 01473 327366

Kilburn Lake in Derby provides consistent fishing just a few miles from the city centre. Set in rolling countryside this 30 peg venue is an ideal place to get bites all day. Reeded pegs with carp patrolling the margins are favourite, with paste, bread or corn popular with the carp. Feed heavily to get through the smaller fish and slightly bigger baits on the hook. Maggot feeder fished in the middle is taking fish in the cooler temperatures. Tel. 01473 327366
